JHARKHAND EDUSAT NETWORK

OBJECTIVES

·        To provide support to education through low cost space segment to the student inhabited in rural and far-flung inaccessible areas and for empowering the education setup of Jharkhand through increasing literacy rate.

SUMMARY

EDUSAT (Education Satellite) or GSAT-3 is the first exclusive satellite for serving the educational sector. It is specially configured for audio-visual medium employing digital interactive classroom and multimedia multi-centric system. The satellite has multiple regional beams covering different part of India. EDUSAT is primarily meant for providing connectivity to school, college and higher levels of education and also to support non formal education including developmental communication. The scope of the EDUSAT programme is planned to be realized in phases. While ISRO has provided the basic ground segment and committed to continue the support for space segment for EDUSAT system for interactive distance education. This project will link schools of villages to the experts of respective subjects available in cities by satellite communication facility.
