BIOFIN Projects in Telangana: Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Agriculture through effective implementation of Schemes and Promoting Sustainable Farming Practices

Client

UNDP

The project has been awarded to CIPS to support the UNDP BIOFIN programme in implementing Finance Solution 1, which focuses on enhancing resources through the mainstreaming of biodiversity in public finance within the agriculture sector of Telangana. The initiative aims to promote the ground-level adoption of biodiversity-positive agricultural practices among farmers in Medak district by demonstrating natural and sustainable farming systems that are resilient to climate change. CIPS will coordinate with three implementing agencies—Deccan Development Society, KVK Medak, and AgHub—and will develop a strategic coordination framework in both English and the local language to facilitate effective administration and engagement with the farming community. This framework will include indicators to assess impacts on biodiversity conservation and farmers’ livelihoods.

CIPS will coordinate planning, monitor implementation, conduct mid-course evaluations, and offer technical support to the implementing agencies responsible for executing Finance Solution 1, while taking guidance from TGBDB throughout the project.
